ABOUT GRANBY

The Town of Granby, named after a British settlement by the name of “Salmon Brook” had its beginning in 1680, so it would seem fitting the early community made up of people of British descent made a new homes for themselves in what they called “the wilderness.” Granby is a unique town in the Farmington Valley which still has a number of working farms whether it be a dairy or goat farm, equestrian center, orchards, or an award winning vineyard, the town of Granby offer open space and rolling hills. Old homes and stone fences add charm as you bike or walk the Farmington Valley Greenway and River Trail that runs through this historic town. A beautiful town center with shopping, restaurants, antique and cultural events, award winning schools and a superb location to Bradley International Airport makes this town special.

HISTORY OF THE COPPER BROOK NAME

Higley coinSamuel Higley began mining copper on his own Granby property in 1733. Since Colonial times Higley has been associated with the Connecticut copper tokens first produced in 1737 making him the first minter of copper coins in the English America.

This is the inspiration behind our community name called Copper Brook. This community of 32 single-family craftsman style homes nestled in the quaint historical town of Granby is surrounded by farmland and open spaces giving you a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere you will love to call home.
